There is a formula used to decide the ranking of 22,000 US High schools. It occurs by taking the total number of (AP) Advanced Placement, (IB)  International Baccalaureate and ( AICE)  Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year and divide by the number of seniors who graduated that year. The Washing Post loves to prints these schools with high academic records.

For 2015, Cypress Bay, Home of the Lightning ranked 131 Nationally and beat the 2014 score of 144, and toppled the 2013 score of 276 and 2012 score of 463.

Cypress Bay is a 'A' rated High School in Broward County, Florida for 12 consecutive years. This school offers its students 33 Advanced Placement courses. This high school is very large having approximately 4,600 students from 9th grade to the 12th grade.

Cypress Bay is proud to have one of the best debate programs, a robotics team that regularly makes it national and even world competitions, 55 clubs, and a  school newspaper. College nights, National Merit Scholarship Competition, college fairs, SAT prep are a few of the programs this school has to offer.

Cypress Bay has a 99 percent graduation rate, and 98 percent of its grads go on to college. The curriculum helps with needs for college bound students. Many students find themselves in highly ranked colleges upon graduation.
